Dean’s Message

Welcome to the College of Horticulture, Hiriyur the college was established on 27.5.2010 under the UAHS, Bagalkot. Later (1st April 2012) it came to the Administrative control of Keladi Shivappa Nayaka University of Agricultural and Horticultural Sciences, Shivamogga. Hiriyur is a small town located in the Chitradurga District, around 40 km from the Chitradurga. This place is renowned for having the oldest dam Mari Kanive (Vani Vilas Sagra). The College of Horticulture, Babbur farm, Hiriyur, has successfully completed 13 years of fruitful academic accomplishment. It was started as part of ruralization of Horticulture education as envisaged by Govt. of Karnataka, in offering B.Sc.(Hort.) degree programme.

The college is imparting quality education since inception by focusing on making our students a good human being and successful professionals through strategic teaching in theoretical and practical aspects during the course of education. As a result, our students have been doing well and are getting top ranks (either 1st or 2nd) in securing maximum number of JRF

The College accredited by ICAR New Delhi and implemented the recommendations of the Fifth Deans’ Committee of ICAR with effect from the academic year 2016-17. With a total credits of 183 which is common for all the UG degree programmes across the Country. Further, the extra-curricular activities like NSS, physical education have been included as a part of syllabus. The college has dedicated faculty and staff, bright students with excellent records in academic, sports and cultural activities.

The college has well equipped class rooms, sports and library facilities and the University installed Academic Management System (AMS) software to assist university staff to manage students’ records. A student record embodies in various and numerous courses management, finance, examination, accommodation and other essential information
